We interviewed the Director of inDAWS, Julio Pons, who started and created the company, has known Odoo for almost a decade and put effort and dedication in learning and improving day by day so that we can offer a quality service.

Our Humble Beginnings: The Spark that Ignited the Revolution

It all started in 2012, when Julio Pons, our visionary founder, decided to embark on the adventure of a lifetime as an independent software developer. The collaboration with Dani Granero in 2014 marked the official start of inDAWS. But what pushed us towards Odoo? The answer is simple: curiosity and the desire to innovate. Upon discovering Odoo, formerly known as Open ERP, we realized that it wasn't just another business management tool; it was the future. And so, without traditional business plans, our passion for Odoo became our purpose.. 

In the words of our CEO Julio Pons:

"It wasn't the typical thing of doing a business plan and thinking about the company, but we discovered Odoo by chance and after studying it, we loved it.

WHAT WAS THE INITIAL IDEA OF INDAWS?

Julio Pons: Initially, I started as a freelancer in 2012 as a software developer in web applications. In 2014 we started to have more volume of work and I created the company with Dani Granero.Indaws Comienzos

First Steps and First Contract: The Start of Something Great

Startups are never easy, and ours was no exception. We researched, experimented and shared our knowledge through blogs on Blogger, which led us to our first big contract. It was a defining moment, coming from a Valencian company looking for experts in what was then Open ERP. This was the beginning of our journey to become an authority on Odoo. 


HOW WERE YOUR FIRST STEPS IN ODOO AND HOW DID YOUR FIRST CONTRACT COME ABOUT?

J.P: The first time I personally got to know Odoo was because one of the clients I worked with had Odoo implemented in his company, although I didn't really work with that client. I kept getting informed about it. 

Together with Dani Granero, we started to investigate on our own, to test and see how it worked. From there, we started to create blog articles and post them on a Blogger platform to make ourselves known. From that moment on, the first contact called us, who came from the only company in Valencia that worked with Open ERP and by coincidence it had closed, so they were looking for other specialists in Open ERP located in Valencia. 

The Odoo Community Era: Where It All Began

From 2014 to 2020, we navigated the waters of Odoo Community, witnessing and contributing to its evolution. Each release, from Open ERP 6 to Odoo 15, marked a milestone in our growth and that of the Odoo Community. This era was characterized by constant learning and adaptation to the new possibilities that Odoo offered.

HOW WAS THE inDAWS STAGE AT ODOO COMMUNITY?

J.P: Desde el momento en el que empezamos, no existía Odoo Enterprise, solo Odoo Community y desde 2014 hasta 2020 todos los proyectos han sido en Odoo Community. 

We have seen all the evolution that Odoo has had over the years. It was a very small company, which was called Open ERP. When we started, it was Open ERP version 6 and now it's Odoo 15, so we have lived through all the transitions that Odoo has made. 

We have been able to see how Odoo Community has been growing and how different it was before and how it is now. Previously, there was very little information about this ERP and very few companies were working with Odoo..

The Leap onto Odoo Enterprise: Raising the Standard

The arrival of Victor Peris at the end of 2020 was the catalyst for our transformation. We adopted Odoo Enterprise, a decision that redefined our approach to a more robust and directly supported Odoo service. This change not only raised the quality of our solutions but also marked our commitment to excellence..


HOW WAS THE inDAWS STAGE AT ODOO ENTERPRISE AND ITS GROWTH?

J.P: Victor Peris joined inDAWS at the end of 2020 and from that moment on we became Odoo partners. We started to study Odoo Enterprise in depth, which is the version where Odoo works the hardest because of the amount of updates and constant improvements. We still think, today, that it is best to work with Enterprise. 


Eventually, we stopped working with Community and now we only work with Enterprise, which we are very satisfied with. The change we made was to a much more stable version for our customers, as it offers more possibilities and the support from Odoo behind. We continuously want to progress and offer the best service and solutions to our users.

Growth and Expansion: Looking to the Future


We have always been a small company with no more than 4 employees, until Victor joined us and we focused mainly on the growth and expansion of our business. inDAWS. 

Our number of employees is increasing considerably, as we have more and more projects. Currently, we have managed to open two new offices in Spain, one of them in Madrid and the other one in Barcelona, in order to better address the projects and needs of our customers.. 

With the move to Silver Partner, we noticed a big difference in terms of level of trust from our customers and new projects. Now that we have achieved Odoo Gold Partner status, we want to go much further..
